You can start by upgrading his food! Get the best for your cat. I would also start making him eat as much fruit as he could, even vitamin c pills, you need to boost his immune system so he can fight off what is wrong internally! Make sure he gets alot of sleep and be as friendly as you can to him.

There is alot of research into the efficiency of vitamin C in cancer patients. There is also alot of research into putting the patients into a better mood, and well being to help fight off whats wrong from the inside, they say a smile makes all the difference.

So be good to your cat and get alot of vitamin c in him.

I have a cat that recently died from feline leukemia.?

Question by hairchick046: I have a cat that recently died from feline leukemia.?
I also have two other cats. They act completely fine and playful. They don’t seem sick and they aren’t acting any different. Actually one of my other cats had the virus when we first broght him home as a baby. We knew he was sick and got him help right away. Because we acted so quickly and he was so young he ended up beating it and he is as playful and hyper as ever. Both of our cats are also vaccinated for it. I am just a bit nervous still that they might get it. And I am wondering if after they beat it if they are immune to it?

Best answer:

Answer by Debi
They can have it for years and show no signs. If they already had it before being vaccinated they still have it.
They can live long and happy lives even though they have it, just watch for signs of illness and get them treated with antibiotics as soon as they get poorly.

Could our kitten have caught FeLV (feline leukemia) from our recently deceased cat?

Question by Mizuna: Could our kitten have caught FeLV (feline leukemia) from our recently deceased cat?
Our older cat tested positive for the disease two weeks ago and was put down because he was so far gone. We’ve had the kitten for 3 months now, and during the entire time she’s been here, they shared their food dishes, litter boxes and were affectionate toward each other with baths and licking. The kitten is approximately 5 months old, and recently started having coughing fits without any hairballs. Is there a chance that our first cat may have infected the new baby in their short time together?

Best answer:

Answer by lizzy_sama
It’s definitely possible. This page from Cornell says “Cats persistently infected with FeLV serve as sources of infection. Virus is shed in very high quantities in saliva and nasal secretions, but also in urine, feces, and milk from infected cats. Cat-to-cat transfer of virus may occur from a bite wound, during mutual grooming, and (though rarely) through the shared use of litter boxes and feeding dishes.”
You should definitely get the kitten checked out by a vet.

Their mother has Leukemia. how can i prevent them from getting the virus aswell?

Answer by lilykdesign
I am very sorry, there’s no vaccine or anything you can do.

I can tell you that the chances of all the kittens having leukemia is rare. Even if one or two does develop leukemia, chances are they won;t start showing signs until they are older.

My friend’s cat has the disease (and aparently dying of the disease) and rides around in the car with her to keep separate from my friend’s other cats. When my friend comes over can she transmit the disease to my cat by petting her or by my cat sniffing or licking her clothes?
